dreams do come true!

WOW!
I cannot believe that I am going to Tanzania today! It feels just like yesterday that I was dreaming of going and wishing that one day I would go...and now I can finally say that I am going! I woke up the other day and I think it was my first realization that this day was finally coming, it is not very often dreams come true! I feel very privileged that i have been given this opportunity.
Someone asked me today if i was scared or worried, and to be honest i have not even had the time to think of being worried or scared as to what might happen. this has all happened so fast and has come together so smoothly i cant be anything more then excited. I know that God is in full control and he will protect me, obviously i have to be smart with my decisions. There is still so much i feel that i have to do before i take off tomorrow, so i am hoping i don't forget anything, and if i do, well i guess that will be fine too!

Please pray for me (especially finding my way through the many stops and airports i will go through).
I cant wait to share more of my adventures with you and hope you all had a good weekend and enjoyed the sunshine we had on SUNday! thanks for all your support and prayers so far too! love you guys!

goodbye for now! i have 37 hours of travel ahead of me until i land on the African plains

p.s. we are all capable of doing whatever we want. so do what you love and love what you do! dont let anyone tell you that you cant do something, because you can. Never stop dreaming, cause dreams can and do come true! (that sounds so cheesy, but it is so true)

We have just finished making our change jars to start off our first fundraiser! these jars are for anyone who would like one. The purpose is to place any loose change over the next year as we will be collecting them before we leave in September 2012. All money raised will be going towards our trip-half will be going to the people, orphanages and where ever else money is needed to help, and the other half will be going towards our trip costs.

If you would like one, please let us know and we will get one to you ASAP!

Jocelyn is off to TANZANIA

As many of you know, I have had a heart for Africa. It has been a dream of mine to go. I was supposed to go two years ago, but things changed and the trip was cancelled. I was devastated to know that i would not be going. But this did not turn me off of the idea of Africa, and i knew i would be going one day...
Well this Sunday is that one day, i will be flying out of Seattle and traveling to Dar es salaam!
When i was approached with the idea of going i did not hesitate to volunteer and say YES!
This is one of the best times in my life to go, as Rachael and I have started to plan our year long missions trip, this acts as sort of the beginning stages as i step out on the African plains. I had been thinking of going somewhere this summer, whether it was Thailand, Maui or somewhere in Africa. My decision was made easily once I was given the opportunity to go where my heart truly has desired for years.

This week has been a bit overwhelming as i am trying to organize the trip and get everything ready to go. but i know once i am there this week will just be the memories of a start to something new and exciting.

i cannot wait to share the rest of my trip with you guys and am so excited to see what happens in Africa!

oh and i guess it is important to share what i will be doing there and who i am going with...!
I will be going with UFV and working with the education system (perfect). There are already students over there that have been there for a month, so i will be kind of jumping into the group. this makes me a bit nervous as i do not know how they will react, but i am hoping for the best.

Hope you all had a good Fathers day! Rachael and I will keep you posted on our lives! thanks for being a part of this!

help us make a CHANGE

So this week Rachael and I have been doing a lot of planning in regards to our fundraising! everything is coming together really well and we are both getting more excited as the days pass and plans start coming together!
We have to get things rolling pretty soon, as time can go by fast, and september 2012 will come quick!
our first step was getting the word out, which gave both of us the incentive that were doing this and we are going to make this dream a reality!
so now, we need to get the ball rolling!
this week  Rachael and I will be making Jars. now these are not just regular jars-we are going to give these out to those that would like one. they will be used for change...and at the end of the year we will collect the jars back and use the money towards our trip. half going to the organizations and people we will be working and helping along the way and half for us to use to get to where we are going!
Help us make a CHANGE in this world,
as your CHANGE can go along way!
if you would like a jar please let us know and we would be delighted to give you one!

Sooo.. What's going on?

Ok So i know everyone is probably pretty confused with how we just sprung the idea of us travelling for a year so i am going to explain it a little bit more. One day Jocelyn and I decided that we wanted to go travelling, specifically in South America. My sister Hannah is living in Chile for a year and we thought it would be cool to go visit her. We got really excited about the idea and it kinda kept going from there... As we kept talking about the idea, the thought of traveling throughout South America kind of unravelled into travelling the world pretty much :D We decided we wanted to not just go to South America, but try and keep on going to other parts of the world we always wanted to go. This is the best time in our lives to go as we will both just be finishing school and not quite beginning our careers. The reason we thought we should start blogging is so that we can keep everyone up to date on what we are planning, specifically in the fundraising aspect of the trip! Seeing how our goal is very large.. we want to involve as many people that are willing. We are hoping that this trip becomes bigger than we can imagine in that it doesn't just becoming about us. The way we would like to see this trip to turn out ultimately is a missions trip in that God is leading us 100 percent of the way! we would love to be working in orphanages and helping with day camps, and doing whatever we can to help out with others around us that we meet along the way.
And we pray that with God sends us in the direction where we need to be and who we need to help. By blogging we can share all of our information with you, good or bad. We really appreciate your involvement in our lives and look forward to this journey ahead!
We provide more information as we go! :D

Just the Beginning!

Hey Everyone!

We have decided to start this blog to get everyone up to date with our plans for the next two years. We have started planning a year long trip, starting September 2012. This gives us time to plan, fundraise and get ourselves prepared for the journey that lays ahead. We are both excited and unsure of how this next step in our lives will unravel.

We want you all to get involved in our plans, ideas and the adventures that are to come!
